To financially assist cancer patients of Edgecombe County.
Being diagnosed with cancer is like having an individual natural disaster. Patients are faced with many hardships including financial stress. The people of Edgecombe County
Many people assume that the needs of cancer patients are being completely met. However, given the changing times and the rising cost of health insurance, treatment costs, and cost of living increases, there are a great number of cancer patients who are in need financially.
The Cancer Fund will strive to assist those needs when it comes to financial concerns.
The fund will be administered by a group of volunteers dedicated to helping our friends and neighbors diagnosed with cancer.
The long-term mission is to become a leading resource in raising awareness and to establish a self-perpetuating fund that will assist those patients who are diagnosed with cancer in Edgecombe County
Eligibility:
All residents of Edgecombe County who have been diagnosed with cancer and who are actively being treated. The Physician certification form will need to be filled out to help determine eligibility. The Fund pays up to $1000.00 every 12 months as long as funds are available. The money can be used for the purpose of offsetting indirect medical costs or any expenses incurred in seeking medical care related to cancer. Examples include: gasoline, food, electric, heating, costs not covered by insurance, or any expense that is related to the diagnosis of cancer. Items not eligible include: physician fees, hospital bills, costs already covered by; insurance, Medicare or Medicaid.

Completed applications can be mailed or delivered to the Edgecombe Cancer Support Foundation at PO Box 1582, Tarboro NC 27886. Call 824-5106 and leave a message for any assistance. Email ECSF27886@hotmail.com.
Payments will be made directly to the Institution requesting payment or directly to individuals as reimbursements. Adequate documentation will be needed to process payments of funds in the form of bills or receipts. Only 1 application per individual will be considered within a 12 month period. In being the best stewards of this Fund, an attempt will be made to help as many individuals as possible.
Confidentiality:
Only the Cancer Fund Directors will be aware of the name of the applicants and information will not be revealed to anyone privately or publicly without the consent of the applicant.
Accountability:
Completed applications, receipts, and records of disbursement will be retained in a confidential and secure manner by the Board of Directors.
Contributions:
The Edgecombe Cancer Support Foundation is funded by donations made generously by individual contributors and fundraising efforts. Tax deductible contributions can be made to the Edgecombe Cancer Support Foundation Inc. at PO Box 1582 Tarboro, NC 27886.
